Become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) through the Centria Institute

Do you have a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Education, or Psychology?  If so, you may qualify for a full-time, salaried position with Centria Autism Services in a clinical development program that culminates in testing for the BCBA accreditation. 

Administered through the Centria Institute and run through our academic partner, the University of California Santa Barbara, this program will help you earn your BCBA accreditation and put you on a path towards becoming a clinical health care professional in 14-18 months.

Program Overview & Description

 

1. Centria Institute Behavior Technician (BT)
You will work in the home of, or at a clinical center with children on the Autism Spectrum to provide Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Approximately 25 hours per week of hands-on application of ABA therapy with one or more clients, implementing the treatment plans developed by experienced clinicians
  • Charting and collecting data on the improvement or lack thereof regarding progression of the abilities of the child
  • Keeping records of preferred positive reinforcements for the child
  • Successfully completing the first half of the program’s full-time, graduate level coursework requirements
  • Adherence to training and conduct standards as outlined in the Practicum Supervision Contract
  • This portion of the program lasts approximately six (6) months on average.

 

2. Centria Institute Behavior Consultant Trainee (BCT)
You will work in the home of, or at a clinical center with children on the Autism Spectrum to develop treatment plans for the provision of ABA therapy. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing one hour of direct supervision to each assigned BT for every 10 hours -totaling approximately 25 hours per week -  that the technician works, providing training in the principles of ABA to both staff and parents
  • Developing child-specific behavior plans in accordance with the principles of ABA
  • Conducting behavioral assessments of clients and perform clinical diagnostics of assigned clients (if qualified)
  • Supervising subordinate BTs and perform formal assessments of their clinical and professional performance
  • Successfully completing the second half of the program’s full-time, graduate level coursework requirements
  • Adherence to training and conduct standards as outlined in the Practicum Supervision Contract
  • This portion of the program lasts approximately seven to eight (7-8) months on average.

 

3. Centria Institute Behavior Consultant (BC)
You will continue to perform all the responsibilities of a Centria Institute BCT as described above.  In addition, you will finalize your preparation and sit for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s BCBA certification exam.

This portion of the program lasts approximately one to three (1-3) months on average.

  • At least seven (7) months of experience working with children with Autism
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Education or ABA Therapy
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in speech and in writing
  • Proven, intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic knowledge of charting and graphing
  • Verified professional references
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
