From Diagnosis to Pool Trick Shot Champion to Brand Ambassador: The Story of William DeYonker

Last week marked the beginning of a new journey for William DeYonker, as we welcomed him to Centria Healthcare as the new Brand Ambassador!

At only 25 years old, William has already made a name for himself in the world of competitive pool trick shots, ranking #1 in the Artistic Pool Division of the World Pool-Billiard Association. He currently holds the #8 spot on the global leaderboard for Professional Ultimate Trick Shot Tour, and has competed all over the world – and even live on ESPN

William’s other passion is film and video production. In 2017, he graduated from Madonna University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast and Cinema Arts, and in 2014, he received his Associate's Degree in Digital Video Production at Washtenaw Community College. He is credited with hundreds of works, and has won several awards. Most notably, he received Best In Show and Best Documentary awards at WCC’s Digital Film & Animation Festival, as well as the Audience Choice Award at the International Broke Student Film Festival.

Additionally, William has autism.

“From the beginning when I was diagnosed, until this week, I felt that I was meant to be here at a place like Centria my entire life,” William said. “I looked at the job description, and I was in awe. I thought it wasn’t possible because this was a job that sounded like it was a perfect fit for me. Something was telling me I need to work here.”

As Brand Ambassador, William will lead presentations with new team members about the power of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, a program that he himself participated in at age 4. During his ABA sessions, he learned and improved upon his communication and social skills.

William will also be putting together workshops for adults with autism, covering topics such as resume writing, preparing for job interviews, and developing a personal brand. In addition, he will also bring his film expertise to his new role, working within the Marketing department to create new media and content.

 “Centria is by far the fastest-growing company I’ve ever seen in my lifetime,” William said. “We’ll get to tell the world about the many innovative things that Centria can offer for individuals nationwide - and maybe someday worldwide."
