On Saturday, April 28, 2018, Centria Autism Services was a proud sponsor of Superhero Saturday at Cherry Hill Mall in New Jersey! This was an action-packed day of fun for local kids, and was free to every family that attended. Activities included:
- Arts and crafts
- Obstacle course
- Rock-climbing wall
- Free giveaways
- Face painting
- Getting to meet Wonder Woman, Batman, Spider Man, and other comic book favorites
- Meeting real-life superheroes: local police officers, firefighters, and service animals!
As the presenting sponsor of the event, Centria Autism Services was able to make the day more inclusive for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by offering a “Centria Sensory Room.” This sensory-friendly space was created for kids who are prone to feeling overwhelmed by crowds and loud noises, and included lots of fun (but quieter) activities: a comic book reading station, a superhero mask-making project, comfortable seating, and sensory toys like fidget spinners and kinetic sand.
During the event, Centria Autism Services was awarded the Superhero Award, which was given out to a select groups who are working hard in the community to make a positive impact.
“It was so exciting to be part of this wonderful event, and it was a huge honor to accept the Superhero Award!” said Leanna Beatty, Internal Communications Coordinator at Centria. “As a company, we are always looking for ways to give back to the community and make the world a better place for children with autism and their families."
